Tracey and Ang' - Thanks girlies, it's so nice to get reinforcement from my friends here.
Susan I hadn't thought of that, It's a possibility. I might go online and make some enquiries. They may want a revamped version if it has been published elsewhere but that could be handled. Have you met with SuzyQ yet for the book chat?

You know, I can help you "Americanize" it, if you need! lol
No...she's been on vacation. We're planning on getting together some weekend since I'm on summer hours and have 3 day weekends through mid August. Right now, her priority is to find another place that sells her specialized breads. The place she'd been ordering from for a long time closed. She's very upset since that's what has helped her keep her weight on. The foods she's able to eat are so limited. I'm hoping maybe someone may know of another company.

Hey Susan & Greenie,
Yes, I have cried all day, so much my eyes are swollen. I found out this morning that Francis Simun Bakery closed for good. That is where I was getting all of my alternative grain breads at. It helped me to stay sane and feel like I at least had something to eat that could keep me from being skin and bones.
I rotated breads through my diet like arrowroot, amranth, buckwheat, millet, milo, quinoa, cotton, teff, tapioca and sweet potato to name a few. Before I found these breads to eat I was starving to death and looked like it too.
They somehow made them without yeast, milk, eggs or any thing other than the flour, salt and filtered water. I can't eat rice, corn or white potato so all other gluten free breads are out for me.
I will now have to restart my allergy shots. I did not want to have to do this but it is so hard to live with such a restricted diet. When you have these severe food allergies you find yourself thinking that one day you will have NOTHING that you can eat.
My doctor thinks that my allergy shots will work better for me because the implants are out. I sure hope he is right.

Suzy, they have a new web site under construction. Are you sure it isn't just the brick-and-mortar location that is closing? Could you not still order for delivery?

Oh I wish that were true, but my Doctors office confirmed it. They are closed for good. Not even doing mail order. Now when you call their phone you get a recording that says "after 23 years in business we are unfortunately having to close. Try your local HEB or Whole foods for alternative breads"......
That does not help me because all of the alternative breads at these places all have ingredients I am allergic to.....
We are searching for a video of how they made thier breads. They quit selling it 2 years ago. My Doctor is having his nurse call some old patients to see if any of them have a copy of it.
Thanks

I feel for you with your allergies Suzie. Are you eating brown rice at all? I know that's the only grain I can eat at present and it helps to keep the weight on because you can have it so many forms. I've got some pretty good recipes that i'm working into book form if your interested. let me know if you want a few.
Hun if anyone can hunt down their methods you can. If you go to the http://www.wholeapproach.com/ site there are many recipes from women with allergies and diet restrictions that may come in handy for you.
Good luck eh.

Ugh. I am so very sorry. I can empathize with your plight, as I have Crohn's disease (pre-implants, and it is very mild so I do not think it is responsible for my joint problems) and I spent two years on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. It is completely free of all grains and their derivatives. No commercial foods, even mayonnaise or ketchup. Yogurt was recommended but you had to make it yourself, and ferment it for 24 hours. It was hard, although it did force me to learn how to be a better cook. That diet actually has some good recipes using almond flour, which is quite versatile. And a peanut butter cake that is to die for, although I realize that's a common allergen. I keep meaning to try it with sunflower butter. (I am no longer on the diet because it seemed to lose effectiveness for me after a couple of years.)
Anyway, don't give up hope - the low-carb community is just enthusiastic enough that someone else might pick up the ball soon on retailing alternative breads, so that you don't have to make everything yourself. So frustrating.

Greenie & Celticom,
Thanks so much for your replies. I can't tolerate white rice at all. I have never done a diet challenge to see if I can tolerate Brown Rice. I will try it soon. No White potatos for me at all and I love them so much. But I can eat sweet potato thank God. ( I know it is because they come from different food groups)
I just got a flatbread recipe so I will try that too and see how it goes. I can tolerate most alternative grains but only when rotated on a 4 day basis.
Thanks guys

Suzy,
This must be very difficult. I can't even imagine having to go through that. I'm assuming that these allergies are due to the implants you had. Did you ever ask Dr. Campbell if you should decide to go through treatment, would this improve. If the implants caused these, maybe treatment to detox would improve it if not take it away all together?
I had read that allegies are due to a weakened immune system. Maybe you should look into a way to overcome these allergies if possible. It must be so hard!

Beth,
Thank you so much. Yes, on top of everything that my implants have caused me, being unable to eat normaly is the hardest and most frustrating. Because eating is not something we can avoid, I struggle each and every day with this cruel punishment.
Both Dr. Campbell and Dr. Shrader think that in time my body will be able to reverse the allergies once my immune system is stronger. That was my exact plan. To coast through life, enjoying the small improvements I have noticed about getting the implants out. I was going to be patient because I know food allergies are stubborn and can take quite awhile to clear. Just like everything elce, I am sure some people get better faster than others with the food allergy thing.
But when my gluten free bakery closed that meant that I lost 25% or more of my daily calories. I rotated thier breads through my diet like, arrowroot, tapioca, sweet potato, milo, amranth, quinoa, millet......etc....They only had the flour the water and salt as ingredients. I have no idea how they got it to taste so good and it even looked like real bread. I also ordered their flatbreads, bagels and bagel chips.
I will have to scramble to find breads without yeast, egg, corn rice or potato. That is what all of the gluten free breads have in them.
I just got really bumed out and now have lost my patience. I get my next LDA allergy shot on Monday June 28th. I will try to jumpstart my recovery with the LDA shots. They failed the first time I tried them because I had the implants in while I was taking the shots.
Yor are correct about food allergies/other allergies being caused by a weakened immune system. These shots retrain the immune system to quit attacking you when you eat foods that your body has made antibodies to.. It also calms the bodies over reaction to candida. If it works for you, the first thing you notice is less joint pain because it decreases the internal inflammation that these food allergies cause. Once it has taken full effect, all symptoms of the allargy are gone and you can eat ALL foods again.
It takes time and is not an overnight cure. It works better overtime as it builds up in your system. Shots are about $150 each. Cheap compared to some other stuff I have tried.
I need to do a TOPIC on it. It is even given to austistic children because it clears their food issues which clears their brain fog which helps them function better. It works much quicker on children and they are able to take less shots. The reason kids respond quicker than adults is because they have not been eating all of the foods as long as we have and their allergies clear faster. Adults take longer to clear. Wheat/milk take the longest to clear. I would be happy just to be able to tolerate corn, potato and rice again.
It is also given as a treatment for RA, seasonal allergies and chemical sensitiviteies no matter how severe.......

Hi Mikisi,
I got a bread maker Monday. I will try it soon. I may have to stick to the flatbreads because I don't know how they (the bakery I ordered from) made their breads rise like they did. I can't have so many of the things that these gluten free breads call for.
Baking powder has corn as it's source and thats a no no for me. I am sure I will figure something out.
Thanks,

I did look at the gluten free bread on the site. It looks delicious. I can't use that recipe because it called for Potato starch and dry yeast. Her site is neat and I am sure I can get some other ideas. I might try changing some of the ingredients and see what happens.
Thank you so much.

It's possible that the bread was raised with a natural starter Suzy. I eat a yeast free brown rice loaf that uses airborn yeasts. They don't advertise the fact but after I researched the process I discovered the method. I still eat it, sparingly...i have got to have bread in some form every now and then. Maybe making your own sour dough starter is worth researching? I'll have a look about, see what I can find out.

Thanks Wendy, hopefully other women will have the same attitude when they read it. It would scare me if I was considering implanting.

Suzy,
I feel so bad for you. That is one thing that implants has not done to me. I have allergies but not to foods and most of my allergies started when I moved in this apartment. There is alot of mold here. I'll be out soon and hope the allergies improve.
We should start a separate subject on this and have as much info there as possible. So many women suffer with this. My heart goes out to all of you.
I hope these shots help you Suzy.

Beth,
I am so glad you are moving out of that place. Thank goodness for that. You will feel better after leaving there.
A good friend of mine recently had to have her house tented for termites. I am sure you are aware of how BAD pesticides are for you even if you are healthy. I am terrified to go over there because the poison residue is EVERYWHERE and that is like a toxic soup for someone like me.
I hope she understands but I think deep down inside she will think I am over reacting or being paranoid. People who are healthy JUST DON'T GET IT. Those of us who are not have to be so careful and go above and beyond with our environments.
Hopefully your next home will be safe.......
