Burning/Peeling Lips
Anyone suffering from this little beauty? Firstly I get insane burning then 12 hours later skin rather attractively peels from the lips. I've also had cracking in the corners of the mouth for months prior to this. I'm taking zinc and multi b's and am all out of ideas.

Hi Greenie,

No, I've never had this problem. It sounds very painful. I sure hope you can find some relief from this. Could it be that you are allergic to something you are putting on your lips?

RE: Burning/Peeling Lips
OMG- Yes, I had this a year ago and used so many products nothing worked. It lasted a few months. I even went to a doctor to find out what is was. He gave me this $100 product that I has to sign my life away because it can cause cancer. No thank you, I wish I new this before I bought the product that I never took. He said it was contact dermatitis I did not change anything then or now...not even my make-up. Now today I woke up with it again. A little itchy then peel and burn. Just bought some Zinc yesterday. Now sure how long this round will last or if the Zinc will work. This concerns me because my 6 year old has had rounds of this for 3 years now. Along with bladder problems and rounds and rounds of extreme Itch and irritation around here rear end that make her cry, and all test turn up fine. I use all products that are free and clear if all perfumes and dyes for years. She had rounds of unexplained traveling hives when she was 2 and 3 I had her tonsils and adenoids out and that cleared up. I did breastfeed for only 3 months.

RE: Burning/Peeling Lips
I wondered if it was either auto immune based given I have psoriasis on other parts of my body and face, but the burning is strange. Candida maybe? Maybe you could investigate Candida treatment for your daughter if she has itching at her rear end. Cmess do you still have your implants?

RE: Burning/Peeling Lips
Have you considered eliminating gluten? It leads to inflammation in the body and that can manifest itself in all different and interesting ways. I have been off for a couple months and my thyroid values have completely changed - so much so that I can reduce my medication. And I turned up NOT sensitive to it on allergy tests - don't trust those, do your own elimination test...be strictly off it for 1 month and then re-introduce. I did that - ate half a cannoli and got an IMMEDIATE migraine. That was very telling. Also - there's LOTS of gluten free foods and treats out there - it's getting pretty popular, I don't feel deprived at all. Feel free to ask me any questions about it!

RE: Burning/Peeling Lips
Yes greenie I still have these implants (saline) I believe I had "open basin" fill and my records are gone from both doctors. I can not even get them from their surgery center because at the time my implant doctor had his own surgery center. I just found out from another doctor that they were partners, ugh! Finding a doctor is not been an easy task. I am so suffering! I have also had my 6 year old tested when she was in a full blown rash and all test came back fine. She is getting over a cold and no rash just crying and itching :( I know if I take her back to the doctor nothing will come up again. I need new tests. She is miserable.

RE: Burning/Peeling Lips
scb- I will try to remove anything anyone asks me to try...my 6 year old hummm this could be hard not the best eater as she is. I love all green veggie, cheese, nuts and grain breads and red wine. Do not eat any meat. To weird everytime I give up my wine I get worse! I have 1 (really! just 1... more I get a hang over) glass before bed I feel sooo much better in the morning. I go off a week I and woke every day in dibilitating pain and itching. Why would this be? I don't get it. The pain and cold and under the skin itch and cannot go to the bathroom... if you know what I mean;) I know this can not be good for me. I tested this many times. But the lips are random and itch in feet and palms. I read b-12 is the crack in the coners of mouth. I get that too. than clears for a while.
Greenie-Let me know how long it lasts.

RE: Burning/Peeling Lips
I will keep you posted cmess. 2 months and counting.
I have been on the candida diet for 15 months. No dairy, no alcohol, no vinegars, no soy, no wheat, no gluten, no sugar. Organic whole foods only and minimal steaming. No protein and carb together, no liquids with food to dilute the enzymes. You name it, i've tried it :)).

RE: Burning/Peeling Lips
Yes, the wine will help (in the short term) because it depresses the central nervous system and blunts the senses. It also increases the threshold for pain, so your symptoms are less likely to bother you.

RE: Burning/Peeling Lips
Do you have dry mouth? Dry overall. Lips peeling due to dry lips, (and/or dry mouth), is a typical symptom of Sjrogren's Disease (autoimmune disease). Seeing your doctor right away and getting tested for Sjrogrens might prevent further health and/or dental problems. The specialist that can diagnose Sjrogrens is a rheumatologist. When you go to a doctor, do NOT describe your symptom as "peeling lips", since doctors do not recognize that term and will be confused by it. If you describe it as extremely "dry mouth" or "dry lips" a rheumatologist will understand and know what to do for you. Be specific and ask to be tested for Sjrogrens.

It could also be due to vitamin deficiency or an allergic reaction to something (toothpaste, mouth wash...etc).

Our cells take instructions from our brain...whatever you thinketh will be your reality.......believe that you are healthy and you will be.
